Scientists of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań are conducting an extensive, interdisciplinary research project iTre-es. Their research is to determine how trees and shrubs affect the ecosystems of local communities.

The aim of the researchers is to examine how changes in legal regulations concerning tree felling affect the residents’ decisions, what are the effects of cutting down trees from the point of view of the benefits provided by trees and shrubs and what are the social preferences regarding restrictions imposed on the private sphere, trees and shrubs on private areas. Researchers also want to check whether the use of the group debate method can affect social preferences.

The researchers will use technologies of terrestrial 3D laser scanning, geomapping trees and local surveys.
