Scientists of the Silesian University of Technology will develop innovative anti-wear coatings of gears on a substrate with increased resistance to cracking. The research is financed under the TECHMATSTRATEG program of the National Center for Research and Development.
A representative result of the scientists’ work will be a prototype of a gear transmission with increased wear resistance and reduced resistance thanks to the anti-wear coating. In order to achieve this goal, a new method of producing spur gear will be developed, combining modern methods of surface hardening and producing carbon coatings with unique anti-wear properties.
The project “Development of innovative hybrid surface layers composed of anti-wear coatings dedicated to the spur gears for drive units of conveyors operating in difficult operating conditions” is part of the Priority Research Area: materials of the future.
