Scientists of the University of Life Sciences in Wroclaw visit Spitsbergen

Scientists of the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław (UPWr) are implementing a scientific project whose main assumption is to determine the possibility of using microscopic fungi to assess the environment in the aspect of climate change.

Research is conducted in high-mountain conditions, and the polar areas. For this purpose, Wrocław researchers chose the largest island of the Norwegian archipelago Svalbard – Spitzbergen.

Research works are funded from the “BioSciUniversity” project financed from the program of the Minister of Science and Higher Education “Strategy of Excellence – University of Research” and are conducted by Dr Wojciech Pusz from the Plant Protection Department and Dr Jacek Urbaniak from the Department of Botany and Plant Ecology.
