Four scientists from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology won the Sonata BiS 9 competition, organized by the National Science Center. They received almost PLN 7 million for the implementation of their research projects.
Dr Piotr Surówka will implement the project: “Critical phases of matter without energy barrier, from topology to geometry”; Dr Eng. Joanna Olesiak-Bańska for “Gold nanoclusters with a defined number of atoms as new markers in single- and multiphoton microscopy”; Dr Katarzyna Maciejowska for “Short-term forecasting of electricity prices on the intraday market”, and Dr Marcin Magdziarz for the project “Probabilistic, numerical and statistical analysis of sub- and super-diffusion processes”.
The competition was addressed to scholars with at least a doctoral title obtained in the period from 5 to 12 years before the year of submitting the application. The grant is intended to create a new research team. Projects under the program may last 36, 48 or 60 months.
