Scientists receive Polish-German Copernicus 2020 Scientific Awards

Professor Stefan Dziembowski from the University of Warsaw and Prof. Sebastian Faust from the Technical University in Darmstadt became laureates of the Polish-German Copernicus 2020 Scientific Award.

The scientists received 100,000 euro for research on models of data security against unauthorized access, mathematical foundations of cryptocurrencies and other issues in the field of cryptography and IT security.

The Copernicus Scientific Award was granted for the eighth time by the Foundation for Polish Science and the German scientific organization DFG. The winners were selected from 29 nominated pairs of candidates. They were appreciated “for outstanding cooperation in the field of cryptography and IT security.” Their joint research on the basics and applications of these areas of knowledge has significantly influenced the systems used in the real world.
