After a research period of more than three years, the ‘Gateway’ project, funded by the National Centre for Research and Development, was successfully completed. Its aim was to develop an innovative stationary system for detecting traces of explosives, commissioned by the Border Guard.
At Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice, representatives of the National Centre for Research and Development and the Border Guard (the project manager) carried out functional testing under operational conditions and final acceptance of the device for detecting trace amounts of explosives.
The device was developed by a research consortium consisting of the Military Institute of Chemistry and Radiometry (leader), the WSB Academy in Dąbrowa Górnicza, the Military Institute of Technical Armament in Zielonka, and companies: Transfer Technologii and WIMECH S.C. Work is currently underway to prepare for the implementation of the constructed device.
