20.08.2019

The Scorpio rover developed by students of Wrocław University of Technology took the fifth place during the Canadian International Rover Challenge. 12 teams from around the world took part in the Mars rover competition in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada, according to the university.

The organizers prepared five competitions for participants: searching for a broken lander; help in repairing the damaged habitat; collecting soil samples; finding and helping a wounded astronaut and collecting items lost during the evacuation of the base. Each task had to be completed as soon as possible and extremely precisely.

Scorpio X rover developed by students from the Off-Road Science Club has a modular structure, which allows to attach additional elements to it and virtually modify any existing components. The structure was developed largely of lightweight materials – aircraft aluminum and polyamide, which have good mechanical properties.
