The Silesian Medical University (SUM) in Katowice has received funding to support students who are Ukrainian citizens. The money is provided by the National Academic Exchange Agency’s programme “Solidarity with Ukraine”.
The project involves 15 Ukrainian university students who arrived in Poland after 24 February 2022 and intend to continue their studies in Poland in medical faculties taught in English. As part of the project, all students receive a grant and some of them also benefit from accommodation in student residences belonging to the Katowice university during the project.
The Ukrainian students have completed an intensive course in medical English, and are currently undertaking a preparatory course in which they participate in didactic classes conducted in English by SUM lecturers. The aim of the course is to complement and deepen the knowledge acquired at the home university.
