Representatives of central and provincial authorities, Silesian parliamentarians, representatives of the world of science and business met in Katowice to talk about plans to create the Silesian Hydrogen Valley. The meeting was attended by Prof. Eng. Janusz Kotowicz – Vice-Rector for Cooperation with the Social and Economic Environment of the Silesian University of Technology.
The Vice-Rector proposed the creation of a Hydrogen Technology Development Center at the Silesian University of Technology. He invited industry institutes and the Polish Academy of Sciences, as well as other universities to cooperate in this area.
The scope of activities of the Center should include: implementation of hydrogen technologies in the energy sector; use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel in transport; support for industry decarbonisation (industrial application of hydrogen); efficient and safe transmission, distribution and storage of hydrogen as well as integration of hydrogen technologies within the existing generation systems.
