Silesian University of Technology is in the group of twenty Polish universities that can become a research university. The university has gained 700,000 PLN for the project “Development of an action plan ensuring continuous growth of indicators of scientific excellence at the Silesian University of Technology as a research university”.

The University’s development plan is to increase the international recognition of scientific activities, strengthen research cooperation with highly renowned research centers and improve the quality of education of students and doctoral students – especially in the fields of study and in scientific disciplines related to priority research areas.

The detailed objectives of the project include searching for and surrounding the care of scientific leaders, developing mechanisms for technology transfer, increasing the number of projects and scientific-research work within key specializations, as well as preparing young scientists with high research potential and raising the university’s position in rankings.
