Six scientists receive the Awards of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences

Six scientists have received the Awards of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) for outstanding achievements.  The awards were granted to scientists for works on Polish humanities, nanografen analogues and brain edema. 

The awards of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences were received by:

Prof. Michał Głowiński, a real member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, for an insightful image of the specific features of Polish humanities through the prism of the biographies of its leading representatives in the book “Smart heads”;

Prof. Arkadiusz Nowak from the Botanical Garden of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Center for the Preservation of Biological Diversity in Powsin and Dr Marcin Nobis from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow for the scientific monograph “Illustrated flora of Tajikistan and adjacent areas”, which is the result of 15 years of botanical research initiated and coordinated by both scientists-laureates in Tajikistan;

Prof. Daniel Gryko from the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the discovery of new functional dyes and heterocyclic analogs of nanografenes;

Prof. Elżbieta Frąckowiak, correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, for explaining the influence of redox processes in electrode materials and electrolyte solutions on the operation and long-term cyclic operation of electrochemical capacitors;

Prof. Jan Albrecht, a real member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, for demonstrating the relationship between the excessive accumulation of glutamine due to impaired active transport from astrocytes to the extracellular space, and brain edema.
