The Comixify application for transforming movies and photos into comics and the VFX platform supporting video post-production as well as solutions created by the team of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) supported the work on the series “The Watch” based on the books by Terry Pratchett.

The VFX Comixify platform is used to transform recorded scenes into animations. The British studio Lola Post Production, which deals with the post-production of the series, used the technology of style transfer, i.e. special filters that apply a specific cartoon style of animation to the recorded video.

-We have developed our own Style Transfer technology, based on Machine Learning (Deep Learning Generative Adversarial Networks) – explains Paweł Andruszkiewicz, one of the founders of Comixify, a graduate of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology. -In this way, we are able to create a style inspired by a given artist based on representative painted or drawn works. Then we can apply this style in any video sequence, maintaining the highest quality – adds Andruszkiewicz.

The Watch is a new British-American fantasy series co-produced by the BBC and AMC.
