Soon the premiere of the film ‘Polar Women’

The film “Polar Women”, a documentary inspired by Dagmara Bożek’s reportage “Polar Women. Conquerors of the polar world’, which was published in 2021 will be available soon. 

The film ‘Polar Women’ takes a closer look at hitherto untold stories of Polish female pioneers of polar research in the Arctic and Antarctic. The heroines include expedition leaders and researchers with major achievements. 

The documentary, whose title in the English version is ‘Ant/Arctic Women’, has five extraordinary heroines including biotechnologist Anna Kołakowska, chemist Wiesława Krawczyk, ecologist Anna Krzyszowska Waitkus, lichenologist Maria Agata Olech and hydrologist Joanna Pociask-Karteczka.

The director of the film is Kuba Witek, author of documentaries about the countries of the North. The music was composed by Łukasz Palkiewicz. The Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Embassy in Oslo and the Polar Research Committee have taken honorary patronage of the project.
