The star of world transplantology – Professor Robert Montgomery – will take part in the Transplant Summit Poland conference on 28 September. The event’s partners are the Silesian Medical University and the university’s teaching hospital, the Silesian Centre for Heart Diseases in Zabrze.
Professor Montgomery is an American transplantologist, the originator and author of the world’s first kidney and heart transplant from a genetically modified pig. Although he himself is post-transplant, he gives second lives to others all the time. He is even one of the Guinness Book of World Records record holders – in 2010, he led the world’s largest simultaneous cross-kidney transplant involving 10 pairs in a single day.
The national conference ‘Transplant Summit Poland’ is intended for professionals interested in the topic (nurses, doctors, medical journalists). The theme of the conference will concern the socio-medical aspects of organ transplantation in children and is addressed to medical staff.
