Statement of the COVID-19 advisory council of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences

12.08.2020

Due to the record increase of cases COVID-19 in the whole country, the COVID-19 advisory council to the president of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) called for avoiding fake information and to apply simple recommendations that realistically limit the pandemic.

The scientists recalled in their statement that there was no scientific evidence to deny the existence of the virus, its pathogenicity and the effects of infection. They emphasize that the most important authorities in medicine, virology and epidemiology have commented on this subject in the world’s most important medical periodicals.

In Poland, 1,774 people died from COVID-19 until August 7, 2020. On average 65 people die from flu at the same time.

-We urge you not to believe false information and to apply simple recommendations that realistically limit the pandemic and lower the risk of falling ill for each of us: keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters, frequently wash and disinfect hands, and carefully use nose and mouth masks in closed spaces.
