The design and engineering work of Natalia Wojtaś from the Faculty of Architecture of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology took third place in the “Diploma with Archicad” competition. The jury appreciated her work “House of Yoga. A Manifesto of Nature in Architecture”. Almost 300 diplomas from all over Poland were sent to the competition.
The project was originally developed for an international competition for a concept for a yoga center – Vale de Moses – on the slopes of the Serra da Estrela mountain range in central Portugal. The laureate designed a house in the middle of the forest, built of wood and stone, equipped with a number of “green” installations to minimize the impact on the local environment.
The award was granted for an attempt to search for an architectural response to the need for concentration and contemplation in relation to nature. Thanks to the used materials, the designed objects harmonize with the existing surroundings.
