The staff of the Polish pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will be dressed in costumes designed by Barbara Florczyk, a student of clothing architecture of the Faculty of Materials Technology and Textile Design (WTMiWT) of the Lodz University of Technology.
-The expectations of all stakeholders were best met by Barbara Florczyk’s project, which associates very well with Polish folk costumes. Our student proposed a very beautiful, characteristic ornament of a geometric floral form, referring to embroidery on folk costumes. She proposed this ornament in women’s and men’s clothes on a large, visible scale. It will be made using the laser cutting technique, which resembles the effect of folk cut-outs, so typical for Poland. The colors of the entire collection are mostly red and white, – said Prof. Katarzyna Grabowska, Dean of WTMiWT PŁ.
Barbara Florczyk has been designing clothes for four years. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, she deepens her knowledge at WTMiWT PŁ.
