Beata Zjawin, a student of physics at the faculty of physics, astronomy and computer science at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Nicolaus Copernicus University) became one of the winners of the 19th L’Oréal Polska program “For women and science”.
The young researcher received an annual scholarship of 20,000. PLN as the only student in the MA category (the remaining five scholarships were awarded in the doctoral and postdoctoral categories). She is a laureate of the scholarship of the Ministry of Education for the Best Students in Poland, scholarship of the Mayor of Toruń for the Best Students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, scholarship for the Best Students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, as well as the prestigious international scholarship SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship.
This year, a record number of 144 candidates from 39 scientific institutions applied for L’Oreal scholarships. The winners were selected on the basis of an assessment of their scientific achievements, experience and the possible practical use of their research.
