Sebastian Burchardt, student of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, was awarded the Diamond Grant. The grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education will allow him to implement the project “The impact of soil drought stress on changes in the metabolism and jasmonic signal transduction pathway in the yellow lupine root and on modifications of the root microbiome”.
The laureate is a MA student of the Biotechnology of the Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences. He participates in research on the impact of soil drought stress on redox metabolism disorders, hormonal and lipid transformations in the vegetative and generative organs of lupine, as well as in the identification of markers appearing in the plant in response to water deficit.
In the 9th Diamond Grant competition, 69 winners were selected of 173 applicants. The grant for a Toruń student is almost PLN 220,000 PLN.
