Deepjyoti Nath, an Indian student of Computer Science of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Lodz (UŁ), is developing an efficient robot for automatic disinfection of hospitals. The Robo-UV prototype was awarded the first prize at the “Development Vision Forum” in Gdynia. It will provide effective assistance to the health service during a pandemic.
Microbiologists of the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection of the University of Lodz obtained preliminary results of research on the effectiveness of Robo-UV against human pathogens.
The research carried out at the end of November in the laboratory of the Department of Immunology and Infectious Biology showed very promising results. Robo-UV has been tested for bactericidal activity against staphylococcus aureus. This microorganism can cause difficult-to-heal wound infections, pathological inflammatory changes, bacterial infections associated with biomaterials or hospital infections.
