Students and scientists of the Silesian University of Technology have developed an application regarding the sound landscape of Zabrze. The research of the interdisciplinary team consisted of measuring and recording sounds in selected 60 locations in the city and acoustic tests on 93 people. The respondents indicated that in terms of sound, it is the most pleasant in the park, and the least pleasant – in the churches.
The project “Designing the acoustic component of a smart city using the concept of soundscape and mobile technologies” concerned the development of a method of supporting the design of the sound landscape of urban spaces, with particular emphasis on auditory interaction of recipients with the occurring acoustic stimuli.
The information obtained can be used in design works related to the planning and spatial development of cities, the use of noise barriers or shaping the acoustic climate of urban spaces – we read on the university website.
