Students from scientific clubs operating at the Krakow University of Technology (PK) are designing a kayak made of textile concrete that will take part in international competitions in Utrecht. The project was supported by FutureLab PK – a student innovation laboratory.
Project “PKanoe – construction of a boat made of textile concrete with a reduced carbon footprint” is implemented by a group of students from the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Civil Engineering under the supervision of Dr Eng. Izabela Hager from the PK University. The task is to develop a composite material – textile concrete, which will be used to make the hull of a boat designed for two people. The canoe will weigh about 100 kg.
The student project of developing a kayak made of textile concrete will promote this new, innovative solution, but it is also created with the intention of PK students to participate in the annual kayak race entirely made of concrete – BetonKanoRace. The event will take place at the end of May this year in Dutch Utrecht.
