Jakub Kaminski, a student at the Faculty of Management at the University of Lodz (UŁ) majoring in Business Process Automation, and his team won the “Design + Tech = Business” hackathon of the Kraków City of Startups organisation, which was held as part of the Academic Innovation Marathon. The winning team prepared the best idea for an innovative application – designed to help blind and partially sighted people.
During the hackathon, teams were tasked with creating an innovation concept that solves a problem identified by the organisers. The team from the University of Łódź chose the topic: “Proposing a product or service to improve the lives of elderly people, people with disabilities with other mobility limitations”.
The application designed by the team is to recognise the scanned barcode of a product and read its name, as well as check product availability in shop or discounts using voice search.
