Students from Warsaw University of Technology: Julia Kirylczuk (Department of Chemistry), Małgorzata Kurcjusz (Department of Architecture) and Jan Prugarewicz (Department of Electronics and Information Technology) and San Francisco State University students: Abby Hadidian, Gelvin Escueta and Alex Chau have developed the A’RENT application to support the fair commercialisation of works of art. The solution can also be used for typical commercial operations involving a change of ownership.

‘The biggest challenge in our project was to solve the issue of temporary assignment of rights to a given work,’ explains Jan Prugarewicz. ‘We decided to use XRP technology, which, compared to other blockchain technologies, is characterised by low transaction costs (about $0.004/transaction), speed (about 3 transactions per second) and good scalability.

The AREN’T app allows collectors to create their own galleries. Creators are easily guided through the app. They do not even need to set up digital portfolios or analyse legal rental issues to make the work available on their terms.
