Students from the Scientific Circle of the AGH University of Science and Technology (Solar AGH) Solar Boat are developing an autonomous solar boat that will navigate rivers and water reservoirs, collect and examine water samples, as well as carry out mapping of the bottom of water areas.
The 50 × 80 cm boat constructed by the students and weighing about 15 kg will be fully autonomous. Thanks to the use of sensors and advanced control systems based on cameras and GPS navigation, the unmanned boat will be able to overcome the planned route without the help of the operator.
The main tasks of the structure will include dynamic mapping of the bottom of water reservoirs and water sampling. The boat will have a small drone, which, through mounted cameras will support the work of the boat, after taking off from the deck of the boat.
