Students of the Scientific Circle of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz are implementing the project “Establishing semi-natural flower meadows in the city”. The research fields were prepared on the basis of semi-natural phytosociological systems and the local seed pool.
The aim of the project is to investigate whether the methods of creating semi-natural systems of meadow vegetation, consistent with the systems prevailing in permanent meadows, will meet the expected effects in urban conditions. Researchers will check the results on, inter alia, the durability of the established meadows, the survival of meadow plant species, or the coexistence of species in plant communities of various types of meadows (fresh meadows, bog grasslands, thermophilic grasslands). Actions taken by young scientists will allow for the development of proper plant care.
The project “Establishment of semi-natural flower meadows in the city” received funding from the Minister of Education and Science as part of the program “Student science clubs create innovation”.
