Professional equipment for making ceramic forms has enriched the studio of the Department of Art of the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Koszalin University of Technology. Students can explore the basics of ceramics, and the university staff can carry out artistic projects.
Two modern kilns for firing ceramic molds were purchased – with a capacity of 80 and 210 liters. The furnaces have a high temperature range – up to 3 thousand degrees C. New equipment includes also two pottery wheels, on which users can learn how to mold the vessels.
– We wanted students to learn about clay as a material, but also learn to work with ceramics, treated more broadly – as a craft. Thus they learn to design and manual work – says Dr Piotr Stramski, Department of Art.
The new equipment can be used by lecturers in the implementation of their own projects. This will allow them to gain experience in educating and preparing works for exhibition presentations.
