Students of Poznań University of Technology took part in the Railway Challenge in Great Britain. In their debut, they gained a special distinction from jury – for the original design, materials used and innovations, as well as the elegance and aesthetics of the presented locomotive.
The Railway Challenge takes place every year in British Stapleford. Teams representing universities, clubs or workplaces from around the world are participating in the competition for the best locomotive. The basic assumption of the competition is to create a locomotive that can start for a tender prepared by a large corporation.
The competition includes performance on the track, the checking of reliability of the locomotive, the maintenance, the noise emitted, the comfort of driving, as well as the possibility of recovering energy generated during braking. In addition, teams must submit their project and convince the competition jury.
