Wrocław scientists trying to print high-quality metallic glass

05.07.2019

Scientists of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology are working on 3D printing technology for metallic glasses. It will be enable to manufacture larger and more durable parts of machines and devices. The project won the award of the Association of Engineers and Technicians of Polish Mechanics.

The team of Prof. Andrzej Ambroziak from the Department of Materials Science, Strength and Welding has focused on the problem of manufacturing mechanical elements from iron-based amorphous materials through generative technologies (called 3D printing). His team also include Dr Eng. Aleksandra Małachowska from the Wrocław University of  Science and Technology and Dr Eng. Wirginia Pilarczyk.

Part of the research was carried out under the Cornet project jointly by the mechanical faculty of the University and German partners: DVS-FV (Forschungsvereinigung Schweißen und verwandte Verfahrene.V.) And Technische Universität Chemnitz and the Nanonet Foundation.
