The dream dormitory project at Pole Mokotowskie in Warsaw, designed by students from the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology (PW), won the competition organized by the Bulider Polska monthly and the Concrete Producers Association.
The contestants’ task was to create an architectural and engineering concept for a contemporary dream dormitory in a selected location.
Students from Warsaw University of Technology: Marta Nawrocka and Mikołaj Niewęgłowski from the Faculty of Architecture and Artur Fushtei and Rafał Konert from the Faculty of Civil Engineering had to take into account the use of two basic technologies: concrete prefabrication and autoclaved cellular concrete, i.e. lightweight construction material with good thermal insulation, hardened under pressure.
The dream dormitory for PW students is a facility consisting of seven buildings, which can accommodate almost 400 people, and are accompanied by small architecture facilities and green zone enabling students to enjoy recreation and learning in the open air.
