Students of the Warsaw University of Technology (PW) have created the Chefs’ application for easy management of culinary recipes. Now they are developing a new module to facilitate the analysis of meals.

The application of WUT students Bartłomiej Gajda and Michał Grzeszczyk won the Huawei AI Challenge 2020 competition.

Now they have significantly expanded their project. To facilitate the management of recipes, they created an artificial intelligence module. As they explain, it is enough to take a picture of a cookbook or a screenshot from the Internet, and the application will automatically find the text on it and use a neural network to divide it into appropriate categories, such as title, ingredients or recipe’s steps.

They also added a new module for automatical calculating the energy value of meals based on the content of the recipes and identifying ingredients that may affect health negatively.

Chef’s application in four languages (Polish, English, German and Spanish) is available in Google Play stores and Huawei App Gallery.
