The Wrocław University of Science and Technology is operating a brewery, where students learn about the techniques of industrial beer production. The laboratory is equipped with instruments used by large breweries. For university needs, the installation is made on a much smaller scale.
Students of biotechnology and chemical engineer have already the course at the brewery. During several weeks, they learn the production of beer from the preparation of materials to the bottling of the completed product. They learn about the operation of individual devices in order to know how to use them in the work of a brewer.
The university brewery include a cooling installation, tanks for preparing hot water, mash and filter vats, a pump that pushes the wort between all tanks, three fermentors, an open fermentation tank and a device for automatic cleaning of the installation.
