Poznan University of Technology’s team successfully competed at the SAE Aero Design Mexico 2023 competition. The university’s Academic Aviation Club team won the overall Regular classification, took first place in the flying competition classification and third place in the technical presentation classification.

SAE Aero Design is an international academic competition that has been organised for more than 40 years by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in collaboration with companies such as SolidWorks, NASA, Boeing, Embraer, Lockheed Martin and ANSYS.

Competitions are organised in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. The task of the participants – student groups from all over the world – is to design and build a model aircraft, according to the constraints and requirements of the rules imposed by the competition organiser. 

This year, the students’ task was to design and build an aircraft that could lift the heaviest possible load with the least possible weight.
