Students of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University: Karolina Chłopicka, Maciej Modrzyński and Piotr Niski, took 2nd place in this year’s oldest international mediation competition in the world – INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament.

The 20th INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament was held online on April 6-10. The competition simulated the mediation process, with the participation of two mediators conducting a session in a comedy format and two pairs of negotiators assuming the roles of a client-lawyer relation.

In addition to mediation skills and knowledge of negotiation techniques, participants had to demonstrate knowledge of general principles and legal institutions. The tournament was divided into 3 stages. 40 representations of world universities competed in the preliminaries, 16 of which advanced to the semi-finals. In the grand finale, the Jagiellonian University Mediation Team faced students from Ireland, India and Canada and finally took the 2nd place. The winner was the team of the Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. The lowest place on the podium was taken by the representatives of the Law Society of Ireland.
