Success of the students of the Jagiellonian University in the world final of the FDI Moot competition

The scientific team of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow took 3rd place in the world finals of the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot 2020 competition. Krakow’s students were only defeated by the teams from Brazil and France.

FDI Moot is one of the largest international investment arbitration competitions. Based on a fictitious legal status, participants prepare written arguments on behalf of the claimant and the defendant, and then represent the parties in simulated arbitration sessions. The judges of the competition are world-class specialists in the field of investment arbitration. The competition assesses both the skills of written argumentation, legal research and rhetorical skills.

According to the Jagiellonian University, in the oral finals of the competition, attended by 77 teams from all over the world, the representatives of the Jagiellonian University appeared in a total of 9 matches, in which they defeated in direct matches some of the best universities in the world, including National University of Singapore or the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing.
