The students of the Wrocław University of Technology won six medals (five silver and one bronze) at the SAE Aero Design West 2018 flight construction competition, which took place at the Van Nuys airport near Los Angeles. Over 70 teams from around the world took part in the competition.

The Technology University of Wroclaw presented two planes – “Red Bomber” in the Micro category and “Dragonfly” in the Advanced class. In the Micro class, the students won the second place in the technical presentation, the third place in the technical reporting, the second place for the heaviest raised load and the second place in the general classification. In the Advanced class they won the second place in the accuracy of the cargo discharge and the second place in the general classification.

SAE Aero Design tournaments have been organized for 30 years. The task of the participants is to construct unmanned aircraft that comply with strict regulations. The machines are designed to lift as much weight as possible with minimum own weight.
