Researchers from the Gdańsk University of Technology, in cooperation with the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, are developing an innovative measurement and analysis system to monitor traffic, technical and environmental parameters relevant to the management of railway infrastructure. The project is worth almost PLN 4.5 million.

The system under development will have the structure of a distributed area-based sensor network, within which individual measurement nodes will communicate with a system coordinator, and the recorded data on train traffic will be processed for the purpose of identifying and assessing the impacts occurring.

The project ‘System of precise monitoring of rail traffic impact on the environment, taking into account information on traffic, technical and environmental data’, abbreviated to InfraNoise, is being implemented under a competition conducted jointly by the National Centre for Research and Development and the Polish railway operator PKP PLK S.A.
