Two teams from Kozminski University (ALK) in Warsaw, under the supervision of Dr Marek Panfil and Prof Franj Mlinarič, took first and second place in the Polish finals of the CFA Research Challenge. The students’ achievements were highly appreciated as in the opinion of experts, their reports exceeded the standards of professional analysts. The winners are now facing the semi-finals, the regional finals and possibly the global finals, organised by CFA Institute.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is the ultimate competition for young analysts. The competition is an initiative to develop students’ skills in analysing and valuing companies, as well as presenting their results.
The CFA Society Poland is inviting local universities, which are selecting teams of 3 to 5 people (maximum two teams per university). Each team must have a mentor (Faculty Advisor) from the university. The teams, under the supervision of a mentor (Industry Mentor), are expected to carry out a financial analysis and write a report on a stock company selected by CFA Society Poland in a given year. The report is assessed by a panel of financial professionals and then presented before a panel of industry experts who select a team to represent the country at the European stage. The winning team from Europe goes through to the world finals.
