Three scientists become laureates of the Planet Lem’s Planet Awards Competition

Edwin Bendyk, Prof. Artur Ekert and Olga Malinkiewicz – became laureates of the first Planet Lem Awards Competition for outstanding achievements in culture, science and technology inspired by the Lem’s work.

Edwin Bendyk, a journalist, publicist, writer dealing with the issues of civilization and the influence of technology on social life, as well as ecology and the digital revolution, was awarded in the culture category. He is the head of the Center for Research on the Future of Collegium Civitas in Warsaw and a lecturer of the Center for Social Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Physicist Prof. Artur Ekert was recognized in the science category. He is a pioneer in quantum cryptography research, professor of quantum physics at the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford, and head of the Center for Quantum Technologies in Singapore.

The technology award was received by the physicist Olga Malinkiewicz, inventor of a revolutionary method of producing printed solar cells based on perovskites.
