The invention “Method of obtaining three-dimensional graphene roses” developed by scientists of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń won a gold medal at the 14th International Invention Exhibition IWIS 2020 in Warsaw.

The subject of the invention is an oil-free and laser-free method of obtaining graphene roses using water suspensions of commonly available graphite. The proposed material may allow to improve the process of generating electricity in supercapacitors, fuel cells or photovoltaic cells.

Earlier, researchers from Toruń won a gold medal at the iENA 2019 International Fair in Nuremberg, a gold medal at the INTARG 2020 fair in Katowice, a gold medal and a special award at the ARCHIMEDES 2020 fair in Moscow, and a silver medal at the 2019 international KIDE fair in Taiwan. The team was also awarded in the 10th National Student-Inventor Competition.
