UNITWIN ‘Culture in Emergencies’ network to be established at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań

UNESCO has granted a request to establish the UNITWIN “Culture in Emergencies” network at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. This is the first network of its kind in the world addressing the issue of protecting cultural heritage in emergencies.

In addition to the Poznań university, the network will include University of Technology Sydney; Berkeley University, Institute of European Studies; UNESCO Regional Office for the Pacific States; Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research University of Technology Sydney; Mexican Center of Uniform Law; African Institute of International Law and Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage.

Among the network’s tasks will be to conduct research on effective heritage conservation and cultural diversity protection in crisis situations, research and analysis in conservation, restoration and resilience-building of societies, and to actively support the implementation of heritage and cultural diversity tools.
