Opportunities and threats related to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) were the topic of the 3rd edition of the Areopag of Universities – a series of debates initiated by the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) on the challenges of the modern world and man.

The first debate took place at the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) on Friday, 16 February 2024, and was attended by rectors and experts from the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), Warsaw University, Jagiellonian University in Kraków and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

Artificial intelligence is finding more and more applications, and everything indicates that its impact on human life will continue to grow.

Participants at the event pointed out that AI will soon be able to accurately answer complex queries, and advanced customer service bots will be able to interpret a user’s emotions and intentions. The dynamic development of AI’s capabilities and its increasing use will bring many challenges regarding ethics or law, and will also cause an evolution of the labour market.

It was recalled that Goldman Sachs estimates that up to 300 million jobs worldwide could be automated.
