A University Centre for Applied and Interdisciplinary Research has been established at the University of Gdańsk. It will include Centre for East Asian Studies, Gdańsk Centre for Biological Resources, International Centre for Border Studies and Memling Research Centre.

The centre will bring together university-wide, non-faculty organisational units whose activities extend beyond the basic research of a single faculty and are financed from external especially project-based sources. Its task will be to take care of those projects which are of an applied, commercial nature and have applications in various business fields and in the socio-economic environment.

“We are beginning the stage of developing the concept of the centre’s activity, which will be based on close cooperation with the Technology Transfer Centre, the Centre for Analysis and Expertise and the Development Projects Office”,says the unit’s director, Prof. Krzysztof Bielawski.
