The University Library of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań has created the “Archives of the Jews of Poznań and Wielkopolska”. The collection will include documents, memoirs, letters, postcards, photographs, sound and film recordings as well as other mementos that are traces of the past of Jews living in Poznań, Wielkopolska Region.
The aim of the university unit is to obtain archival materials from the descendants of Poznań and Wielkopolska Jews, to develop them, digitize them and make them available for scientific and popular science purposes, in cooperation with the Tu Żyli Żydzi Foundation.
The first element to be included in the Archives was the legacy of Noach Lasman, a Poznań resident, a prisoner of the Siedlce labor camp, a geologist and a writer. After the war, he studied geology. In 1957, he emigrated with his family to Israel. He worked as a geologist in Israel, Madagascar, Ethiopia, Colombia and Nicaragua. In retirement, he devoted himself to collecting materials about the fate of Poznań Jews during and after World War II.
