The work of the international project “DUST”- Democratising Just Sustainability Transitions, of which the University of Economics in Katowice is a partner, has started. The project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Framework Programme.
The aim of the project is to increase citizen involvement in sustainable transition activities in coal regions, with particular listening to the voice of uninvolved communities from structurally weak regions dependent on energy-intensive industries.
Innovative participatory research methods will be used to understand the determinants of participation in sustainable decision-making. The research will produce recommendations related to increasing inclusive public involvement in the transformation of carbon regions. The DUST – Regional Futures Literacy Labs experiments also involve the use of a hybrid format of design and digital tools.
