University of Gdańsk contributing to the virtual herbarium of Pomerania

04.05.2021

The University of Gdańsk is implementing the project “Herbarium Pomeranicum – digitization and access to the collection of herbariums of academic units in Pomerania through their merger and digital access”. In this way, about half a million specimens of plants and fungi will be included in the virtual collection.

The project is implemented in partnership of three universities: the University of Gdańsk, the Pomeranian University in Słupsk and the University of Szczecin. It assumes the merger of four currently functioning Pomeranian herbariums (Herbarium Universitatis Gedanensis – UGDA, owned by the University of Gdańsk, Herbarium Slupensis – SLTC, owned by the Pomeranian University in Słupsk, Herbarium Stetinensis – SZUB, and the Szczecin Diatom Collection SZCZ, owned by the University of Szczecin) into one virtual and herbarium collection available online.

The project is financed under the Digital Poland Operational Program. Its total value is over 25 million PLN.
