The University of Gdańsk is one of the implementers of the WorkYP project (Working and Yet Poor / Working, but still poor). Researchers will analyze the causes of poverty and social exclusion, which is not caused by unemployment.
For many years, the phenomenon of alienation caused by low incomes was mainly due to the lack of work and stable income. Meanwhile, in the last decade there have been groups of excluded people who are active in the labor market, but the level of their received remuneration or its frequency does not provide a decent standard of living.
The project focuses on those groups of people who remain on the labor market, whose level of remuneration and other working conditions do not guarantee an adequate standard of living. Activities will be carried out for three years in a consortium coordinated by the University of Luxembourg. The project’s budget amounts to over EUR 3.25 million.
