The Slavist Doctoral Science Club operating at the University of Gdańsk and the Creative Slavonic Studies Association are inviting participants to a scientific conference on Slavic issues and its relations with the world of superheroes.
The conference “Themes: Superhero in language, culture and literature” will be held on September 27 remotely via the MS Teams platform. Its participants will try to answer the following questions: Does every hero wear a cape? What makes a hero great? Do the Slavs have their superheroes? Are Slavic themes present in superhero universes?
The proposed issues include: Slavic heroes in art and literature, superhero onomastics, fighting evil in pop culture, giants of science, fandom, fanfic and cosplay as well as superheroes versus mythology, folk motifs and translations of comics and movies.
