20.07.2020

The project “Development and technology transfer for blue bioeconomy in the Baltic Sea region BlueBioTECH”, implemented by the oceanography and geography department of the University of Gdańsk, received funding from the Interreg Program of the Baltic Sea Region.

BlueBioTECH project, implemented in cooperation with partners from Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden, Germany and Denmark, aims to identify the main trends, technological and innovative needs in the blue biotechnology and aquaculture industry, with particular emphasis on the requirements of the Baltic Sea region.

The project will help prepare a larger, target project focused on the development of blue technologies and management of sea resources based on the principles of the circular economy. It is a response to the need for finding better solutions in production, harvesting and processing techniques, and especially in scale-up, e.g. in the cultivation of micro and macro algae, mussels, fish and shrimps.
