Dr Wojciech Siwek is one of the winners of the competition for individual grants of Maria Skłodowska-Curie under the Horizon 2020 program. The scientist will carry out the IMMUNE-GENEMEMO project at the University of Gdańsk. The project is carried out in cooperation with Harvard University.
The project combines research in the field of gene regulation with immunological expertise. This combination of sciences will help to understand the mechanisms of cellular memory and contribute to the development of new vaccines and immune therapies. The granted funding is over 250 thousand euro.
The IMMUNE-GENEMEMO grant aims to discover unknown mechanisms of information storage and copying in cells. The goal is to identify new transcriptional memory factors through the use of the genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 mutagenesis technology in combination with the selection of mutants with selected characteristics.
